Acadia Community Theater Announces Willy Wonka Golden Ticket Contest
Mount Desert Island, ME – Leading into its spring musical, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, the non-profit Acadia Community Theater group has announced it will hold a “golden ticket” promotion, similar to Willy Wonka’s contest in the beloved children’s story and movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Four local businesses on Mount Desert Island, Ben & Bills, Choco-latte, McGrath’s, and Carroll Drug, will be the hosts for the tickets. Unsuspecting customers to these businesses may find or receive a golden ticket any time between March 28 and April 6.
The winners of the golden tickets will each receive two free theater tickets to opening night of Acadia Community Theater’s show on April 8th at MDI High School. The winners will also receive prizes that night presented to them by the host businesses. Unlike Roald Dahl’s characters, however, the ticket winners will be safe from the tragedies that befall Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Mike Teavee who meet their fates on a tour of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
“We wanted to find a fun way to celebrate local businesses and help promote our show,” said Keri Hayes, President of the Acadia Community Theater Board of Directors. “A local golden ticket contest seemed a natural way to generate excitement, particularly among kids, and to drive business to the participating stores. And while we will not be awarding a lifetime supply of chocolate, we think the winners will be happy with the prizes from our sponsors!” ACT’s production of Willy Wonka will run April 8-10 at MDI High School and April 15-16 at the Criterion Theater in Bar Harbor.
The public can monitor how many of the golden tickets have been found and at which locations by checking Acadia Community Theater’s website, www.acadiacommunitytheater.net and Facebook page.
